There is no other celebration as American as our celebration of our country on the 4th of July. But what are we commemorating on this very festive day?
On July 4, 1776, the thirteen colonies, represented by the Continental Congress, claimed their independence from England, by adopting The Declaration of Independence, an event which eventually led to the formation of the United States.
